Janice's Biography

Born    : Janice Elizabeth Gilmour, June 22, 1964

I was born in Toronto, but raised in Ottawa.   I graduated from Ridgemont High School in 1982. After starting at Carleton University as a student of Geology I changed my mind and went to Algonquin College for Computer Engineering Technology, graduating in 1989.  I've been working in the software industry since then. 

Algonquin is where I met my husband, Carlo. We started dating August 14, 1990 and got married exactly 3 years later on August 14, 1993.   One of our major interests was/is cottaging.  We rented a cottage for several years with friends at Constance Bay.  It was a run down little shack, but we had a terrific beach and great friends.  After we got married we bought our own cottage (1995) which is proving to be one of the best decisions we've made. 

Other things we have made include our first child, Marisa, who was born on February 22, 1996 and our son, John, who was born March 9, 1998.

In 1999 I got laid off from work and decided to take some time off.  I'm ready to go back now but it's a tough job market out there right now.  I've decided to go back to school to update my skills.  When I took Computer Engineering Technology in the 80's we'd never heard of object-oriented programming and the internet was still years away.
